Paramore – “Playing God” (Video, Quote, and Interpretation)

Lyrics:

If God’s the game that you’re playing
Well, we must get more acquainted
Because it has to be so lonely… to be the only one who’s holy
. . .
You don’t have to believe me
But the way I, way I see it
Next time you point a finger
I might have to bend it back
Or break it, break it off
Next time you point a finger… I’ll point you to the mirror

Interpretation:

If you are your only authority you only have yourself to blame. And eventually, there will be someone who will take away that power you thought was so strong.

Band Info:

“Our [Christian] faith is very important to us. It’s obviously going to come out in our music because if someone believes something, then their world view is going to come out in anything they do. But we’re not out here to preach to kids, we’re out here because we love music.”
