“I Write to Fight Propaganda” (A Response to “I Walk to Fight…” AIDS Walk).

This poster (supported by San Francisco) is a great example of misrepresenting the conservative position. Although I am not a conservative, often the Biblical political position overlaps with issues the Conservative party has to deal with. This is one of them.

The argument goes: “Christians and Conservatives are racist, homophobic, and uncaring of the poor because they single out groups instead of treating everyone equally.”

But let’s look at the actual numbers of those affected by AIDS before we go along with that statement.

. . .

Race: Black vs. White

Black/African American – 23,168
White – 13,846

*Those identified as Black on the 2010 U.S. Census only make up 12.6% of the population.

Sex: Homosexual vs. Heterosexual

Male-to-male sexual contact – 30,573
Heterosexual contact – 13,402

*Those self-identified as LGBT by researched done by Gary Gates only make up 3.5% of the population.

. . .

These numbers put out by the CDC (2011) show that the number of blacks and homosexuals affected by AIDS vastly outweigh non-minorities and heterosexuals even though they are the minority in America.

This comes years after liberals claimed that HIV and AIDS would be widely spread by heterosexual contact rather than homosexual contact. They accused Christians of being homophobic because of the conservative belief that HIV and AIDS would spread faster by homosexual contact. And, ironically, even after the numbers proved that Conservatives and Christians were right, they still push it to be a hate-filled, fear-filled, race-filled issue.

The truth is that the vast majority of Conservatives try to look at the facts regardless of race or sexual identity, and just try to build a logical, unemotional, analysis. And the truth is that Christians love to participate in AIDS walks to help others regardless of if those who are infected live an openly gay lifestyle or not. Conservative analysts (by-and-large) said that AIDS will be spread through homosexual contact (rather than heterosexual contact) because they wanted to acknowledge the truth to do something about it. Yet TIME, Newsweek, and a host of other media sources denied that this would be the case and said that millions upon millions of heterosexuals would die from AIDS. When that turned out to be false (and Christian analysts turned out to be right), the same sources claimed that Christians and Conservatives were homophobes, racist, and unrelatable to people in poverty.

I write to fight the belief that most conservatives are uncaring and most Christians are only loving to their own people. Although the city of San Francisco is known for its liberal activism through municipalities and advertisements, it’s posters like these which borderline on propaganda and defamation. I encourage others to sign up and help raise funds for those fighting AIDS and HIV’s, but please do not sign up for hateful or antagonistic reasons. Most of political bias is based on (easily traceable) lies. Many Christians and Conservatives (by virtue of their own values) would like to help if they weren’t being scared off. Please let them instead of labeling them and pushing them away.
